Restaurant Review: The Store House
For those of you who don’t know my job has sent me to the small hamlet of Qikiqtarjuaq in the Canadian Arctic for work. To get to Qik you must first fly to Iqaluit then spend three days trying to fly to Qik via Pang. Qik is very foggy this time of year so it is near impossible to get in and out. It kind of reminds me of The Island in Lost. So our second day of trying to get into Qik when like this: Get up at 5:30am to ensure we have a seat on the plane > get the plane at 8am > fly to Pang, > attempted landing in Qik > refuel in Pang > return to Iqaluit. After about 10 hours of useless traveling we decided to have a few beers at Iqaluit’s sports bar The Store House with a Harry Potter chaser (we were the only three people in the theatre). The Store House has a hunting cabin decor characterized by taxidermied Arctic wildlife:
All three of us ordered the Muskox burger with cheese and bacon (not sure why we didn’t think salad would be a good option before going to the middle of nowhere where salad is hard to come by). When our burgers came we were suprized to find they were all DOUBLE burgers. Wow. That is a lot of meat.
The next day we finally got into Qikiqtarjuaq where I have been for the past two weeks!
